Dogg days for David

Fresh from working with pop music legend Benny Anderson of ABBA, David has yet again been mixing with the stars in his latest project.

Swedish financial tech giant Klarna, valued at $2.5 billion last year, has gone all gangsta in its latest ad campaign, enlisting the services of none other than hip-hop supremo Snoop Dogg – and they’ve brought David along for the ride too. His track “Czardas” features prominently in the new campaign, which sees Snoop surrounded by a gang of well-groomed Afghan hounds.

Klarna’s campaign shows the LA rap star – who’s temporarily renamed himself “Smooth Dog”, as well as investing some of his fortune into the company – enjoying the finer things in life while spreading the cost of his luxurious purchases.

Snoop Dogg, real name Calvin Broadus, told Forbes magazine: “I’ve been doing business in Europe for years with fashion brands, telecommunication companies and more. I’ve endorsed them, advised them, and now I’m looking to invest in them. I plan to keep growing the portfolio, ya dig?”

Klarna”s CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski also told Forbes: “We were wondering who is the smoothest person alive, that was really the background of how the name Snoop Dogg popped up in our heads.”

Smoothest person, smoothest ad campaign and world’s smoothest whistler all in one place. We’ll sip an ounce to that.

David’s album “Whistling Down The Wind”, which features “Czardas”, is available to buy on CD and as a download from the iTunes Store.

Mama Mia! David’s back in the movies

David’s latest project has seen him mixing with pop royalty as he was asked to perform on the soundtrack for the upcoming movie Mama Mia! Here We Go Again. And the whole thing came as something of a surprise.

After receiving a request to attend Air Studios in London to record some of his whistling for “a new movie”, David was more than pleasantly surprised to turn up, only to be met by ABBA’s Benny Andersson, as well as the film’s musical director Anne Dudley. “I had no idea which film it was until I arrived and was told that Benny Anderson of ABBA was there overseeing the music production,” said David.

“It was a great thrill to meet him [Andersson] having been an ABBA fan over the years,” he added.

The film is a sequel to the 2008 movie Mama Mia, which was based on the stage musical of the stage name. Hollywood A-listers such as Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth reprise their roles from the original movie, joined this time by Cher.

Mama Mia! Here We Go Again is scheduled for release in cinemas on July 20th, 2018.

David shows his spooky side

Those of a sensitive disposition should look away now. David has recently been lending his whistling talent to the soundtrack of a spooky new children’s TV series.

Creeped Out is an anthology of modern-day ghost stories which aired on CBBC (formerly known as Children’s BBC).

The series, which premiered on Halloween this year, is a British-Canadian production in a similar vein to classic spooky shows such as Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories and The Twilight Zone. Each week begins with an appearance from “The Curious”, a mysterious whistling story collector. With his face always concealed by a featureless cardboard mask, you know you’re in trouble if he turns up on your street.

The soundtrack to the series was composed by Joe Kraemer, the man behind the music on Hollywood blockbuster movies such as Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Jack Reacher. David’s whistling can be heard throughout the six-part series, bringing a sinister air to the already spooky goings on.

If you missed out when the series originally aired, you can catch up on the BBC’s iPlayer. If you find yourself gripped with fear but unable to look away then fear not, there are more episodes to come at the beginning of 2018.

David Down Under (Again!)

Following on from his successful slot on Australia’s biggest breakfast TV show, Sunrise, David Morris has once again wowed Antipodean audiences with another appearance on Australian TV; this time on Oz’s answer to This Morning – The Morning Show.

In a segment cheekily titled “The Morning Show Off”, David was interviewed by hosts Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur, and asked a range of questions about his rise to the top of the world whistling pile. He even took a few requests, much to the hosts’ delight.

Trumpet Triplets and Sanpellegrino

Adding to his growing list of advertising credits (which already includes, BMW Mini and TSB), David’s familiar sound can now also be heard in a new campaign for Sanpellegrino, which features his track “Trumpet Triplets”.

The campaign, entitled “The Life Deliziosa”, follows a madcap game of bocce through traditional, narrow Italian streets, as a runaway ball causes all kinds of chaos. It is currently playing in UK cinemas, with a TV debut scheduled for later in the year.
